I am a HUGE Disney fan. I know a lot of people say that… but did you know that Walt Disney was afraid of mice, yet the entire industry rides on the tail of Mickey? Go figure right?

Now, I have always wanted to combine my favorite things: Child Life and Disney. As Walt said: “If you can dream it, do it!” So I am going to do it!

What am I going to do exactly?

Well, I am going to examine different Disney movies and how the Child Life Specialist can use these thematic elements, stories, and symbols to integrate them with children and families and how they support different aspects of child life including: grief/loss, family style, emotions, relationships, and other various topics.

In the past in my Master’s program, I have used different Disney themes and movies for different projects, such as an oncology term book with the Kim Possible theme and a Connect 4 game with Inside Out characters. So it is possible!

My intention for this section is to dedicate to various Disney/Pixar films so I can help you come up with different topics of how to connect Disney themes to Child Life and implement them in your work!

There will be a category now titled: Wonderful World of Disney & Child Life. So stay tuned!
